The Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Cami) is one of the most impressive symbol of Istanbul. It is located directly opposite to Hagia Sophia Museum. The mosque takes its name of Ottoman Emperor Sultan Ahmet I. The Sultan Ahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque) was built between 1609 and 1617 AD. It is also known as the Blue Mosque because of the blue tiles used to decorate the walls of its interior.
